FOUNDED
Tung Shin Hospital was founded by Kapitan Yap Kwan Seng in the late 19th Century and became highly regarded by the Chinese elites in Malaya, Singapore, throughout Southeast Asia and China.

LOKE YIM FEMALE WARD
Timeless dedication remembered. Funded by Mr. Liew Weng Chi in remembrance of his mother. The opening ceremony gathered celebrities from Kuala Lumpur’s Chinese community.

HAW PAR BUILDING
Donated by the famous Singapore brothers Mr. Aw Boon Haw ESQ and Mr Aw Boon Par ESQ. It once housed the Western Specialist Centre in the 70s, it is now temporarily a staff hostel.

CALLIGRAPHY
The Nanjing Chinese Government Chairman’s calligraphy adorns the building. This led the building to be recognised by KL City Hall for its aesthetic architecture and history.

The Independence - 1951~1969

New Medical Building Reconstrution
As the nation gained Her independence in 50s, Tung Shin Hospital has reopened and started to treat patients on 15th May. The Welfare Lottery Bureau and Hong Kong entertainment mogul and philanthropist, Sir Run Run Shaw donated fund to Tung Shin Hospital for the demolish of the old male ward building and refurnish into a double-storey building which later be named as Welfare Building. Kuala Lumpur’s Mayor and Tung Shin Hospital’s Mr. A. York paid a visit to the old Loke Yim Ward before it was demolished for reconstruction.

Taiwanese and Hong Kongese Celebrities Kenny B, Lim Foong Chiau, Hu Yin Meng, Hu Weh Choong, Qin Han, Tien Nu and many more performed a charity show for Tung Shin Hospital.

LEE YAN LIAN WARD
Lee Yan Lian Ward was officiated by the Health Minister Tan Sri Chong Hon Nyan. The ward had housed the newly established Western Medicine Section since 1978.

HEALTHTRON & PHYSIOTHERAPY CENTRE
Officiating these centres was Mr. Ryoichi Sasakawa (Japan Shipbuilding Industry Foundation President). Together with the Harajuku Institute for Health Science Co. Ltd donated a set of healthtron equipment via Tan Sri Lee Yan Lian.

Health Minister Tan Sri Chong Hon Nyan, Tung Shin Hospital’s President Tan Sri Lee Yan Lian and the Hospital’s Directors officiated the party with a cake cutting ceremony.

CHINESE MEDICAL BUILDING
The ground-breaking ceremony of a 12-storey Chinese Medical Building was held in March 2002 and chaired by the late Tan Sri Dato Teo Soo Cheng and the Board Directors. The building and equipment were estimated to cost an equivalent of RM25 Million

COMMUNITY SUPPORT
The establishment of Tung Shin Hospital and Nanyang Press Foundation started to provide low-cost haemodialysis services for low-income patients with renal failure.

The newly renovated 8th and 9th Floor wards at Western Medical Division, as well as X-Ray departments while Magnetic Resonance instruments were enabled.

Relocation of Decoction Room
The decoction service provided by the Traditional Chinese Medical Division had been well-received since its inception in 2007. As demand increased, the centre was relocated to a larger building.

The Western Medical Division and Nanyang Press Foundation had jointly set up the charity dialysis centre for the benefits of the lower income patients with kidney disease.

Computerized Tomography Scanner ( CT Scan)
Acquired a 128-slice computerized tomography scanner (CT Scan) worth RM 2.5 million.

Mobile Charity Clinic
Chinese Medical Division had established the Mobile Charity Clinic and collaborated with nursing homes, orphanages, charity organisations with the aim of giving free medical consultation to the under-privileged patients

Western Medical Division - Maternity Ward
The maternity ward renovations at Level 3A of the Western Medical Division , including a one-stop maternity suite with complete equipment; birthing lamp (first new light in Malaysia), delivery room, TV, pantry and many more had been completed, ensuring that every maternal process can be conducted at the labour room without being transferred to the ward.

Tung Shin Hospital spent RM3 million on hospital management system (HIS) upgrade. The newly adopted Arcus system is an end-to-end single patient medical record system.
